An Interesting little known fact about Freemasons:

Freemasons, often just called Masons, are not allowed to ask people to join! If you have ever wondered why you have never been asked, it’s because they cannot ask. You’ll often see the slogan “2B1 Ask1”, referring to the fact that if you want to become a Mason, you must ask a Mason. This has been a tradition in Masonry for hundreds of years. There are countless stories of sons finding folded up, completely faded, old applications in their fathers’ wallets after they had passed only to learn they were keeping it with them at all times, hoping someday their sons would ask them to join, but never did.

In today’s society, Masons are much more open and talkative about the fraternity, but in years past, members were instructed never to talk about it and were forbidden to invite new members. Despite this restriction, Masonry will celebrate it’s 300th birthday in 2017! This makes it the oldest, and largest fraternity in the world.

At the bottom of this page is a list of Famous Masons, and some of them may surprise you. There is a lot of mis-information out there about Freemasons, so please look at the list of those men, thinking about what you know of their character, and that they are proud members of this fraternity.
